Blogmas Day 6 : Date Night

As a mom of four, I often drown myself in all things pertaining to the kids. In fact, over the years I’ve completely lost a sense of self as I felt that being the perfect mom should be my only priority. I can’t stress to you how wrong that sentiment was and still is. Perfection is unattainable and more importantly, one should never lose themselves to anyone or anything. I‘m so thankful that Sid has encouraged me to get back to me and part of that is carving out time for us.

Time for us looks a lot different now that we live with my parents. And there‘s COVID, so we’re limited with our plans. But nonetheless, we always try to incorporate some sort of date night at least twice a month. It’s so important to the preservation of our marriage. You see, we don’t just love each other, we LIKE each other a lot. And I know that may sound silly, but we genuinely enjoy each other’s company. We always say that if we’re (him and I) good, then our kids are good, so to us our marriage comes first. It’s not just our love affair, it’s our ministry and we nurture it just like we nurture our babies, putting time, energy, love, and substance into it.

For date night this week we settled on dinner and a football game. We chose a restaurant we’d never tried and crossed our fingers for a nice experience. Kona Grill was the choice and we were not disappointed at all! The atmosphere was calming, the restaurant was spacious, and the enclosed patio where we were seated was heated and furnished with ample TVs for us to watch the game. The food was fantastic! I ordered the KG Sliders and my husband the Spicy Shrimp Tempura. It’s a day later and I’m still thinking about those house made pickles!

Overall our date night was a total vibe. I love my husband and I love the bond that we share. We are so looking forward to the world opening back up so that we can get back to a variety of date night activities. But until then, we’ll settle on good food and laughter. After all, the only thing that really matters is being together and I can’t imagine being with anyone else!

I am a lucky girl!!!!!
